December 15, 2019, Kumar Ajwani – Director & Founder of Team Fab Foundation ran from Mumbai to Delhi for 26 consecutive days braving the cold and the smog, to raise money for those people who have braved far more and sacrificed far more for us – the Indian armed forces.
Queen Mary’s Technical Institute (QMTI) in Pune is a 100-year-old charitable institute that imparts vocational training to injured and differently-abled soldiers so they can reintegrate into civilian life and support themselves. (For more details about QMTI, please visit https://www.qmtiindia.org/)
Kumar was accompanied by Sunil Sharma, an international athlete, on this run. They covered 1,450 km together. On the way, Team FAB met many people – strangers and friends – who were surprised and impressed to learn that India has an institute that helps educate differently-abled soldiers and that it is only one of two of its kind in the world.
The run helped raise awareness for this cause and raised Rs. 21 Lacs (Rupees twenty-one Lacs only) for QMTI. Moreover, the solar power company Sterling & Wilson donated 2 solar panels to QMTI, helping to decrease their monthly electricity costs by Rs. 70,000/- per month.
Besides this, the awareness that Team FAB raised about QMTI paved the way for more substantial donations to the charitable institute.
Special thanks to Goregaon Sports Club (GSC), Mumbai, for providing financial support and promoting the run and the cause.
Also sincere thanks to Mr. K Haridasan Nair, and Dr. Sunita Godara for all the time support extended towards the promotion of this fundraising cause run.
